Hello! Sorry again to not be there today. Here's what you're up to:
- Tasks for this weekend
- Complete your P1 (due Monday at 3pm)
- Read Chapters 1 and 2 of The Giver
- Check your presentation date for the next two weeks
- Peer editing of Project 1
- Remember: peer editing is a helpful way to improve your writing long term.
- Try to get feedback from at least two different people, and try to offer feedback to three or more.
- Here's what to look for:
- Spelling, punctuation, and grammar mistakes
- Follows Paragraph Structure
- Follows the writing tips
- Integrates quotes
- Double check with the example I gave yesterday, to see if it's similar.
- Remember to finish off with a compliment sandwich: Give a compliment, ask a question that will help them improve, give another compliment
- I've posted a Word document on the General Channel, to show what Peer Editing Group you're in. You can find the groups as new channels in English 8. Today, go to your channel, and ask who might be willing to peer edit your work. When you make a connection (and be sure to offer yourself!), post your rough draft for them to offer feedback.
- I've never done peer editing like this before, so we'll see how it goes!
- Remember that you need to show evidence of improvement from TWO different sources.
- Reminders:
- We switch back to face-to-face on Monday. Looking forward to seeing y'all!
- We start The Giver, Chapters 1 and 2 on Monday. (Look on the Teams General channel for your presentation date)
- Tuesday we start student presentations.
- Your first test is on Tuesday next week. We'll go over details on Monday.
- I've pushed back the Freewrite assignment (A4) to Tuesday, instead of Monday, and changed it from 6 to 4 entries. That way people can ask me questions on Monday.
- See everyone on Monday!
