 Hello everyone! Sorry I can't make it today, feeling a little under the weather. Here're your tasks for today:

English 8

- Today's presentation (chapters 2 and 3) is delayed until Monday, but Monday's

(4 and 5) is not. They’ll both present on the novel then.

- A freewrite of ten minutes, and then share with a partner. The prompt is: What do you

think of Cole?

- Answer the following questions on your own or with a partner - you are expected to have

them ready by Monday for discussion:

A. How would you characterize Cole? Find evidence of speech, actions, and appearance.

B. Describe the settings you see so far in the novel.

C. So far, how would you describe the tone of the novel?

D. What is a symbol you see? What big idea might it represent?

-Read the next two chapters on your own (chapters 4 and 5). You may read in class

if you prefer.
