Hello! Here's what we're up to today:
English 12
- Checking in
- Recap yesterday
- Time for discussion on Ukraine
- Reviewing Assignment 2. What I'm expecting:
- This is the first time I've done an assignment like this, so I'm open to a variety of different responses.
- I won't be providing an example for this one, because it doesn't feel right with the idea that this is a remarkably individual response to a giant historical question. That being said, I honour that not having clarity on this will cause some anxiety in a year in which your grades are important, and I'll happily give feedback along the way.
- In general, I look for specificity of language, so maintaining a consistent focus throughout will be key.
- Reexamining the General Writing Rubric
- Would we benefit from another delay? We could say a rough draft is due Thursday, and then good copy Friday, which would give you a chance to check with me on what direction you're heading.
- Time to jot down ideas for Assignment 2.
- Literary terms
- Characterization
- Dramatic Irony
- Unreliable Narrator
- Expanding on thematic statements
- Freewrite
- Copies of Presentation Rubric
- For tomorrow, finish the next section of your novel (note: the Kite Runner presentation will wait until Thursday)
