Hello! Here's what we're up to today:
English 12
- Welcome back! Please forgive me if I take a beat in using your name. I have the memory of a goldfish.
- Checking in. A little twist: consider trying out a different tone word each day. Or keep going with numbers. Whatever you prefer.
- How're we feeling about masks?
- Discussion: What is empathy?
- Looking at the calendar. Where were we, and where are we going?
- Reminder: Make sure you're signed up for a presentation
- Note when midterms are.
- Returning to the essay project details. This is a natural expansion of P1, so please take a close look at my feedback.
- Structure of an essay
- Expectations for literary analysis, synthesis, and research essays
- How to make a plan for the essay
- Looking at the timeline
- Time to start working on your plan for your essay
- Distributing assessments, and taking time to ask questions
- Reminders:
- You have the right to challenge, just bring receipts.
- You have the right to redo, but coordinate with me first.
- If you're missing parts of your response (peer reviews, for example) you can still hand those in).
- Recapping P1
- Recapping A2
- Recapping A3
- Let's take down the charts, and put some of these up!
- Important note:
- For those of you who are worried about the status of your progress and your grade in English, the next few weeks is the main window to put in the effort (with five assessments behind us, and a major essay coming up). It's never too late, but in my experience, this is when some students turn it around.

- Returning A2, and giving feedback
- My apologies: I had all sorts of plans to have things marked over the break, but I need a few more days for your P1. You'll definitely have it back before your essay. Speaking of which...
