Hello! Here's what we're up to today:
English 12
- Checking in
- Recapping yesterday
- Reminder: Friday April 22nd is the last day to get in missing work before the midterm report cards
- Schedule of literacy assessment
- Students missing work
- Lockdown drill
- Returning to last class' freewrite
- Student presentations
- Teacher notes
- Discussion: Who is best villain of all time?
- How to build a character:
- As usual, show, don't tell.
- You want to build a strong background without ever having to explain it, so the characters don't make nonsensical decisions.
- Ask four questions about your characters:
- Where are they?
- How did they get there?
- Where are they going?
- How will they get there?
- Freewrite - who is this person?
- For Tuesday, come to class with a plan for your story (your final version can and should change). It should include:
- The theme you're exploring
- The setting of the story
- The background of the characters
- The tone/atmosphere you're going to attempt
- Over the weekend, read the next section. For KR, a reminder about content warnings; come ask me if you want to know details.
- Today's FIT I'll be doing a tutorial on the basics of your upcoming literacy assessment. Feel free to come.
