May 17, 2022 (TOC)

Hello! Sorry I couldn't be there today. Here's what you're up to:

English 12

  • Please note: presentations will start on Thursday. My apologies for the delay once again.
  • Activity
    • In groups of 5-6, create your own bracket for the Logical Fallacies sheet (link here), asking the question: What is the most powerful logical fallacy? Share your result with the class, and compare what others thought.
  • Tomorrow, be prepared to discuss which one you thought was the most powerful, and why.
  • If there's time remaining, you may read your Independent Novel (note: you should likely aim to have the novel completed by the end of next week).
FIT
  • English 12s from Block 1 are to head to the Atrium for the ceremony taking place, and will be seated on the main floor, towards the front.
New Media 10
  • Fifteen minutes of silent reading of Romeo and Juliet. The goal is to read Act 2 Scenes 1-3 by tomorrow. You may read the modern English version, and you're encouraged to read ahead.
  • 30 minutes: Plan for your response to Assignment 4 (link to assignment page here). Your goal by Thursday is to choose a quote and have a plan for how you'll draw it. You'll have Thursday's lesson to draw it.
    • See the examples on the green board for what it might look like.
  • With the remaining time, students may read their Independent Novel Assignment, or work in their video groups to plan ahead.
English 9

  • Fifteen minutes of silent reading of And Then There Were None. Your goal is to read Chapters 2-3.
  • Ten minute freewrite: create a quick mystery story based in this super creepy abandoned mall. Afterwards, share what you wrote with your peers. Be prepared to read it aloud in class tomorrow.

  • For tomorrow: Individually, create a character chart of all the ten characters in the novel, based on what you read in Chapter 1. It should feature:
    • Everyone's names
    • 2 notable details about each one of them
    • A drawn symbol you associate with them (like a car, or a cigar). The drawing can be quite crude.
    • This will be for completion marks, and I'll be checking them tomorrow
