Hello! Sorry I couldn't be there today. Here's what you're up to:
- Ten minutes of silent reading
- Today, consult the literary terms sheet, and make sure you understand each of them. Check the Lesson Notes page for definitions and examples
- On Thursday, we'll be doing a trivia game based on questions about literary terms. Your task today is, in groups of three or four, create ten possible quiz-style questions about literary terms, with possible answers. Please write them by hand, and feel free to practice them in class. I will use your class' questions for another class. Candy will be on the line
- Examples of questions (don't copy them, please):
- 1. Which of the following is a metaphor?
- A: I'm so hungry I could eat an entire chicken.
- B: Bob bakes bought bananas.
- C: An English teacher who can't read.
- D: Mr. McLean is an aardvark.
- 2. On page 152 of our book, identify the tone.
- 3. Create a five-word sentence using alliteration of the letter T.
- With the remaining time:
- Read to the next section of the novel (for Strangers, finish chapter 19. For Dry, finish page 297)
- Prepare your one page, double sided page of notes for the upcoming quiz
- Begin planning for the game you'll create after the break
