January 31, 2020

Hello! Here's what we're up to today:

  • Checking in
  • Details on Q1 and W1
  • Brief historical context
    • Enlightenment and Revolution
    • No taxation without representation
    • Abolition's role in the American Revolution
  • Presentation on the first four songs of Hamilton
  • Literary terms
    • Connotation
    • Characterization
    • Dramatic Irony
    • Situational Irony
  • "My Shot" at the White House
  • Freewrite and discussion
  • Time to listen. For next class, listen to the next four songs.
  • Update on self-assessment: I've had to reevaluate how this will be done, since that'll take up a lot of class time to do self-assessment interviews. So rather, here's what we're going to do:
    • Hand in your justification for the self-assessment
    • I will look at each one, and offer a counter-mark.
    • If you want to book a time to come chat with me, either during the marking process or after, you are welcome to. I'm available in the mornings, and Mon-Tues after school.
    • Please don't hesitate to ask for any clarification.
