 Hello! Here's what we're up to today:

  • Checking in
  • Time to prepare for in-class write
  • In-class write
  • Project 3 Peer editing
    • Note: I've created a new channel on Teams, in case people wanted to post theirs and offer thoughts over the weekend.
    • Get feedback from three people (offer as many times as you can!)
    • Look for:
      • Can the characters be made more complex?
      • Can a richer atmosphere be created?
      • Is it a dystopia?
      • Does a character have to make a decision?
      • Are there spelling or grammatical errors?
  • Project 4 details. By Monday, choose a book to read.
  • Textbook return
  • Wenjack distribution
    • Background on Residential Schools
    • Background on Chanie Wenjack
    • Song from A Tribe Called Red: "BEFORE"
    • Description of a Manitou
    • Note: this is a beautiful, sad story, with a different tone than The Giver. It's worthy of a trigger warning: there are some troubling passages.
  • Reminder of online weekly schedule. I'll be in room 209 (for returning textbooks, and picking up your marked paragraphs)
    • Monday - a video is posted in the morning. Students are expected to "Check in" and respond to a discussion question.
    • Tuesday - Online lesson from 11-1130
    • Wednesday - Online lesson from 1215-1245
    • Thursday - Online lesson from 11-1130
  • Homework
    • Complete Project 3 by Monday at 3pm.
    • Choose a novel for Project 4
    • Download Monday's lesson, and respond to "Check in" and "Discussion"
    • Return textbooks
  • Good luck as you switch back to your other class!
