Feb 9, 2021

Hello! Here's what we're up to today:

Rotation 2

  • Silent Reading
  • Checking in - How are you feeling today?
  • Prior knowledge - what myths were you able to find out about?
  • Literary terms (See Lesson Notes document)
    • Review yesterday
    • Tone
    • Theme
    • Thematic statement
  • Assignment - Visual Representation of a Myth
  • Integrating quotes
    • For English, we need to practice incorporating quotes into your writing.
    • To integrate a quote, your words need to be featured in the same sentence as the author's words (if you remove the quotes, the sentence should still make sense)
    • There are three ways to do this:
      • Quote at the end
        • The character Bob clearly states that "he doesn't want to go to bed."
      • Quote in the middle
        • While Bob clearly "doesn't want to go to bed," he will likely have to.
      • Quote at the beginning
        • "He doesn't want to go to bed," the author says, but I'm not sure I believe him.
    • Time to practice
  • Freewrite/Discussion: Eternal life
  • The Legend of Tir Na Nog
    • What did you think of the story? Which one did you prefer so far?
    • Activity on analysis
  • For tomorrow, watch this video by Kung Jaadee on "Salmon Stories" (Password is the word Raven)
    • Brief heads up on tomorrow

Rotation 1

  • Remember: no online or in person lesson today!
  • Checking in - How are you feeling today? Offer a number between 1-5, and explain.
  • Discussion question:
    • Post an image (not a video) of an advertisement. Identify a persuasive technique that you see in the advertisement.
  • Coming up
    • Prepare for tomorrow's quiz
    • Make sure your Advertisement Project is complete by Thursday.
    • Tomorrow's lesson is in class, during Flex time
    • Thursday's online lesson is from 1215-1245
  • Thanks everyone - see you tomorrow!
